Winter Concert!

Notes and voices resonated throughout the auditorium at the Annual Winter Concert Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. The program consisted of multiple pieces performed by chamber choir, concert choir, symphonic band, A cappella group, and the Symphony Orchestra.

The chamber choir opened the concert with  “Sicut Locutus” est from the Magnificat. After, the Concert Choir performed multiple songs: the Israeli song (trad.) “Dodi Li,”;  “Pavane” by Gabriel Faure; “The Girl from Ipanema” by Antonio Carlos Jobim; “Poor Wayfaring Stranger,” and “This World is Not My Home.” The Symphonic Band performed Tchaikovsky’s “March Slav, Op. 31” led by Mr. Rutkowski.

A cappella group, a new music club created this year, performed two songs: “Don’t Stop Believin” by Steve Perry, and “Bottom of the River” by Eric Holljes. The A Capella group formed this year under the guidance of junior Sage Sherry, seniors Alexa Tubian and Roger Hyman, and Club Advisor Dr. Levy. Preceding the A cappella performance, the Symphony Orchestra performed “Swan Lake,” “Romeo and Juliet Overture,” and “Russian Dance Trepak” from the Nutcracker Suite. The chorus strolled onto the risers and performed “Oratorio de Noel. Op 12” by Saint Saens with the Orchestra and ended the concert with “1812 Overture” by Tchaikovsky.

Through rigorous in-school rehearsals and full-blown efforts to practice the music, the musicians were greeted with an enormous round of applause from the audience, including returning Alumni who came back to visit the school’s beloved music program.
