After four seasons of endless cheering, laughter, wins and losses, the seniors walked to Memorial Field for their last senior game of the tennis season. The underclassmen on the team arrived early to decorate the field with balloons, senior posters, and streamers.

This year, the team’s captains were Brook Damaghi and Shannon Nassi. As do other teams, strong relationships and connections built as the season passed. Senior Julia Kosinski reflects, “The best thing about tennis is our close-knit family,” she continues, “Playing tennis each day and being able to escape from school work is great, but the family and bonds tennis creates are undeniable… I will miss the friendships I made on that team and the laughter and fun times spent on the court.”  Agreeing, Seniors Ashley Yu and Amy Shteyman mention that tennis practices allowed moments of happiness, friendship, and an opportunity to cool down from the stressful day.

One of the Captains, Shannon Nassi, who has played tennis for seven years now, mentions that the team’s primary goal this year was to, “take the Long Island championship.” While the team did not make it to the Long Island Championship this year, Nassi claims this tennis season her favorite in the past four years. Nassi mentions the great sportsmanship that both she and Damaghi had, specifically mentioning that she, “enjoyed co-captaining with Brook Damaghi because we were able to voice the opinions of our team together and we both made it a priority to make sure that our team was working hard on the courts to excel, have fun, and unite to what would intimately become a family.”

Along with being the last senior game, it was the first game of playoffs. The tennis team destroyed  Oceanside’s tennis team with a win of 7 – 0.
